Nigerian scammers penetrate Facebook

SOCIAL notworking site Facebook is riddled with Nigerian scammers using compromised accounts to con users out of cash.

Apparently the badly-spelt cash requests, long since laughed off the Internet by anyone with half a brain, are finding fertile ground amongst the Facebook crowd.

The latest trick is to send an email from a friend claiming to be stranded in Lagos, Nigeria and ask for $500 for a ticket home.

Many users totally fail to recognise the fact that their "friends" have lost total command of the English language.

Of course, Facebook allows scammers to research and target victims more effectively and avoid having their messages blocked by spam filters.

Facebook passwords are currency in the cyber criminal market for this reason and are harvested through Trojans.

Other tricks have included an email from friends calling for you to download an infected video file
